FINAL PROJECT UPDATE:
Reflection:
For my final project, I made three pieces- a striped bowl, a green and blue bowl, and a polka dot bowl. I liked my patterns because they weren't exactly perfect like the models I used. The black cup wasn't my favorite because the glaze got messed up, but it still mostly matches the theme. Overall, I enjoyed this project and I am glad I took ceramics. |
DISH FOR YOUR DISH FINAL UPDATE:
Reflection:
For my dish for your dish project, I designed a bowl-plate by first flattening the clay and rolling it out and then pushing up the edges. I used water to make the edges stronger. I made a bowl-plate because it is my favorite dish to eat off of and it reminds me of family traditions such as we always eat our Thanksgiving meals on them. My dish didn't exactly turn out the way I expected, but I learned I should've used more clay to make the structure stronger. Overall I enjoyed this project and am excited to celebrate our class after break. |
TEXT POT FINAL UPDATE: |
Reflection:
For my text pot, I designed a pinch pot with the slogan "every month is awareness month." I am supporting bringing attention to awareness of people with type one diabetes, who have day to day struggles with their blood sugar levels. It is so important that we remember how hard it can be to have this disease and continue to donate to foundations to help make a difference. One of my best friends Brandon has diabetes and he has to constantly check his blood sugar, along with keeping drinks in the nurse's office in case his blood sugar drops too low. He often tells me how he wishes so badly he could just get rid of it forever, and how it can be a pain to have to worry about blood sugar on an even hourly basis. I wanted to make this to show him how important he is to me and how he should be proud of himself for overcoming the struggle everyday. I enjoyed creating the pot, however, the clay was very hard to roll out and and I struggled to shape the pot. The glaze and carving my slogan was the easiest part of the assignment. I am looking forward to showing Brandon my pot after it's been fired in the kiln. |
